Air traffic management: high-low traffic intensity analysis
Article Abstract:
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) manages the Air Traffic Control (ATC) system. The system directs air traffic flow, prevents collisions and meets the standards set by National Airspace System (NAS) users. Problems due to complexity that are encountered in one station of the NAS system is propagated throughout the network. Thus, the FAA has contracted with MITRE Corp. for the development of the National Airspace System Performance Analysis Capability model. This queuing model was created to analyze system wide air traffic management.
