Discovery Communications Inc
Article Abstract:
Ward-Hale Design Associates has been the interior designer for Discovery Communications Inc. for eight years. The first four floors designed by Ward-Hale were conventional and inflexible for the international media firm's rapid growth. Ward-Hale created an open-space working environment with enclosed offices only for the president and vice-presidents in the fifth floor but both agreed that this was too extreme. Ward-Hale's design for the 11th floor accurately captures the particular mood required by Discovery.

The new MSNBC headquarters in Secaucus, NJ, was designed by a team led by Dennis Janson of the Phillips Janson Group. The centerpiece of the new facility is the 25,000 sq ft newsroom and broadcast studio where almost everything from producers to writers to fixtures can be seen on camera. The facility also has a 7,000 sq ft acoustically isolated production studio with sound doors, equipment silencers and two-inch thick duct liners on walls.
