Virtual reality presents humans with a means to explore Mars thoroughly and with all the thrills without the risks of a manned space mission. An analysis of this new technology and its applications in planetary exploration are presented and discussed.

NASA's planned Mars Global Surveyor and Mars Pathfinder missions will provide students with a wealth of knowledge on the planet. Several suggested classroom activities that teachers can introduce in line with the Mars missions are discussed.

Climate change: it's happened on Mars

NASA scientists using the Hubble Space Telescope have discovered that Mars is drier, colder and clearer than it was during the Viking missions to the planet in the 1970s. This makes Mars a suitable subject for studies of climate change.
