Securely accessing the Internet & the World Wide Web: good or evil?
Article Abstract:
The Internet has become an important channel through which private and public organizations communicate, obtain information, market products or services and transact business. The increasing popularity of this technology presents a huge challenge for computer security professionals tasked with controlling and monitoring its use. They fear that the lack of Internet security will help raise the incidence of computer fraud, facilitate the dissemination of pornographic and other obscene material, increase the accessibility of private and confidential information, and cast doubt on the security of information found on the Internet. Organizations using the Net can employ a number of techniques to protect themselves from fraud and unauthorized use. These include developing security policies, using encryption and network traffic controls, using virus protection software and educating employees on Internet risks.

TVA at Age Fifty - Reflections and Retrospect
Article Abstract:
The achievements and lessons of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) are chronicled on its fiftieth anniversary. TVA has been an outstanding creation and public works example from the outset. The five components of the 'the idea' that is the framework of the organization are discussed. Some of the ironies, paradoxes and failures are also presented. Though it was established to provide economical electrical power, its constituents are now dependent on electricity which is becoming an expensive source of power. The period of 1962-1979 and the creation of Tellico Dam is seen as a mismanaged Pyrrhic Victory that led it away from its grass-roots base. TVA combines bureaucracy and democracy at the regional level.

Hayek and slipping to serfdom
Article Abstract:
Hayek's book elicited conflicting responses from western countries in different ages. It was challenged by UK's Labour Minister of Parliament Barbara Wooton and was debated among socialists in the US. The book argues that the free market, not socialism ensures the preservation of democracy.
