Coat color alleles in the domestic cat populations at the Adriatic Coast
Article Abstract:
The cat population from the northern Adriatic Coast around Rijeka, Croatia, has a significantly lower frequency of piebald spotting and a higher frequency of blotched tabby than that found in the southern part, around Bar in Montenegro, Yugoslavia. The existence of distinct northern and southern populations is also confirmed by genetic distance analysis. Cat populations of Rijeka match most closely with those of Alessio and Venice in Italy. The similarities in the southern groups are not as marked as in the northern population. Human preferences, founder effects and the shared history of these places are believed to be the reason for these observations.

Ascertainment bias in spatially structured populations: A case study in the Eastern Fence Lizard
Article Abstract:
The findings from an empirical approach are presented to explore the effect of population structure of issues of ascertainment bias in the Eastern Fence Lizard, Sceloporus undulatus. It is found that frequency spectra and summary statistics were highly sensitive to single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) discovery strategy.
