Role of Pseudomonas aeruginosa PhoP-PhoQ in resistance to antimicrobial cationic peptides and aminoglycosides

Article Abstract:

Pseudomonas aeruginosa PhoP-PhoQ and the role of the two-component regulatory system in resistance to aminoglycosides and antimicrobial cationic peptides has been studied. The role in resistance to aminoglycosides seems to be distinct from that in resistance to cationic peptides and polymyxin B.

Isolation and characterization of draT mutants that have altered regulatory properties of dinitrogenase reductase ADP-ribosyltransferase in Rhodospirillum rubrum

Article Abstract:

Dinitrogenase reductase ADP-ribosyltransferase (DRAT) in Rhodospirillum rubrum is responsible for the ADP-ribosylation of dinitrogenase reductase in response to the addition of ammonium ions or removal from light. Some draT mutants that have altered regulatory properties of dinitrogenase reductase ADP-ribosyltransferase in R. rubrum have been isolated and characterized. Random PCR mutagenesis of draT from R. rubrum was used to investigate the mechanism of DRAT regulation. Screening for mutants was done with regulation-altered DRAT. The hypothesis of loose-binding negative effectors regulating DRAT activity in vivo was supported.
