Mapping quantitative trait loci for ordered categorical traits in four-way crosses
Article Abstract:
A method for mapping quantitative trait loci (QTLs) for ordered categorical traits in four-way crosses has been developed. It is based on a generalized linear model and estimates and tests average effects of a gene substitution in parents. It might be extended to QTL mapping in full-sib families. Numerous quantitative traits of economic importance are ordinal. Methods of mapping QTLs for continuous qualitative character are already established.

Environmental influence on the genetic correlations between life-history traits in Caenorhabditis elegans
Article Abstract:
The influence of temperature on the genetic correlations between egg size, egg number and body mass in the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans is studied. Results indicated that specific loci control the covariation in the life-history traits and the locus control is prone to environmental conditions.
