Non-genomic transgenerational inheritance of disease risk
Article Abstract:
The evidence and potential mechanisms for non-genomic transgenerational inheritance of diseases in mammals are explored. The analysis has indicated that the developmental origins of disease are a maladaptive consequence of an ancestral mechanism of developmental plasticity, which might have adaptive value in the evolution of generalist species such as Homo sapiens.

Determination and stability of sex
Article Abstract:
A new testable model is developed for sex determination of the ovarian soma that can resolve some mechanistic paradoxes. The analysis has suggested that a single gene pathway hinging on the Foxl2 transcription factor both initiates and maintains sex differentiation in somatic cells of the mammalian ovary.

Gender, immunity and the regulation of longevity
Article Abstract:
A range of factors that might underlie sex differences in longevity are discussed, emphasizing on the molecular determinants of lifespan. It is shown that the insulin/IGF-1 signalling pathway has played a major role in regulating sex-dependent differences in lifespan.
