Occurrence and genetic diversity of uncultured Legionella spp. in drinking water treated at temperatures below 15 degrees Celsius

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted on the drinking water, which was treated at temperature below 15 degrees Celsius, to detect the representatives of the genus Legionella. It was observed that the surface water and ground water treated at temperatures below 15 degrees Celsius showed a large diversity of yet-uncultured Legionellae.

Isolation of two polyketide synthase gene fragments from the uncultured microbial symbiont of the marine bryozoan Bugula neritina

Article Abstract:

Two gene fragments from B. neritina larvae that have high levels of similarity to polyketide synthase genes are isolated. A clear association of these gene fragments with the symbiont is found and no association is found with the host.

Incubation of environmental samples in a diffusion chamber increases the diversity of recovered isolates

Article Abstract:

Freshwater pond sediment is used to inoculate diffusion chambers and petri dishes. Continuous cultivation in diffusion chambers adapts some microorganisms for growth under otherwise prohibitive in vitro conditions.
