Plastome-genome interactions affect plastid transmission in Oenothera
Article Abstract:
The influence of nuclear genomes on plastid inheritance in Oenothera was determined. The transmission of four Oenothera plastom types was simultaneously compared in different nuclear backgroud. Results of the genetic crosses showed that the plastome-genome interactions affected the plastid transmission by lowering the efficiency of plastid multiplication after fertilization. In addition, parental traits which influence fertilization also affected plastid transmission.

Picking pyknons out of the human genome
Article Abstract:
A nonrandom pattern of repeated elements called pyknons, which are found more frequently in the 3' untranslated regions of genes than in other regions of the human genome was described. The human genome was divided into genic and nongenic regions and patterns of at least 16 bases in length that occurred at least 40 times in the nongenic portion were looked.

Genome sizes through the ages
Article Abstract:
Scientists are trying to find patterns of genome size evolution. The changes in genome size are analyzed by studying the genome size evolution in fossil dinosaurs.
