The development of haematopoietic cells is biased in embryonic stem cell chimaeras
Article Abstract:
The contribution of embryonic stem (ES) cells to haematopoietic development apparently differs in the host and descendant cells. Beta-galactosidase expression from an X-linked transgene was used to investigate the haematopoietic development of ES cell injection chimaeras. An unexpected bias in the haematopoietic differentiation of ES-derived cells was discovered when the proportions of these cells in the antigen-positive lineages were compared with the ES cell contribution to all cells in the organs.

Migration of oligodendrocyte precursors on astrocytes and meningeal cells
Article Abstract:
Tissue culture migration assays and time lapse video microscopy shows that both meningeal cells and astrocytes impede the migration of oligodendrocyte precursors and the precursor cell lines, CG4 and Oli-neu. Examination of the events instantly after cell-cell interaction indicates that oligodendrocyte precursors-astrocyte contacts were long-lasting while the precursor-meningeal cell contacts lead to a rapid departure from the precursor cell process.
