US warplanes and Iraqi anti-aircraft batteries fired on each other Apr 9, 1993, in the northern 'no-fly zone' of Iraq. The exchange of gunfire was the first such incident in two months. According to US reports, the Iraqi guns initiated the exchange by firing on four US jets patrolling the area.
