Austrian Airlines delays planned capital increase

Article Abstract:

Austrian Airlines has delayed its planned capital increase in autumn of 1998 due to the current market condition. In April 1998, the airline announced its intention to issue at least eight million new shares with a nominal value of 100 schillings each as part of a move to issue 13 million new shares by 2003. The money to be raised by Austrian Air was earmarked to replenish and upgrade its fleet and boost its capital base after its buying and capacity expansion activities. The postponement would not affect Austrian Air's investment plan, according to analysts.
