Barclays bid for ABN gets some support

Barclays PLC may gain assistance from other large banks, such as France's BNP Paribas S.A., Spain's Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria S.A., and Bank of America, in its efforts to buy ABN AMRO Holding N.V., as these banks either oppose the consortium competing against Barclays or would be willing to purchase ABN assets in the event that Barclays would sell any.
