Article Abstract:

As China's economy starts to boom, policy makers and businessmen worry about the affect such a rise will have on Southeast Asian economies such as Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, and Malaysia. In fact, the Chinese threat seems to be exaggerated as Chinese imports from these countries are still high and U.S. investment in Southeast Asian countries was five times more than that in China for the period of January to June 2001.

India lifts import curbs

Article Abstract:

The Indian government has abolished quantitative restrictions, a class of barriers, in time to meet a World Trade Organization deadline. Some of these barriers include import quotas and special import licenses. Rules have also been set up to prevent the import of too many foreign goods and to protect the local industries.

Growing China imports raise Indian charges of 'dumping'

Article Abstract:

Manufacturers in India allege that Chinese producers are selling goods below cost in India. Indian firms hope that they will be able to prove their claims once China enters the World Trade Organization and data is made available regarding shipments.
