The Effects of Sex of the Leader and Sex of the Subordinate on the Use of Organizational Control Policy
Article Abstract:
Former research on the Attributional Model of Leadership is furthered to involve the sex of leaders and subordinates as possible moderating considerations in leadership roles. Over two hundred undergraduate students in psychology were paired into various dyads. Deadline policy and causes were manipulated according to role descriptions. Questionnaires were given to pairs following role-playing. Participants ranked the worth of eleven corrective measures related to deadline policy. multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) was used to assess the data. Cause and policy both affected dependent variables. Tables of univariate analysis of variance (ANOVA) are featured which show sex variables, cause and policy impacted attribution corrective action, and satisfaction measures. Tables of means of treatment groups are data featured.

A series of management studies reveals that the attitudes of senior management have changed. A growing loss of identity with their companies increases their isolation. They no longer believe or know where the company is headed. The cultural values of top management filter down through all company levels. This widening of the gap must be closed and a clear sense of company goals must be articulated.

British Airways' short haul cabin staff are preparing for a strike because the company has moved to cut down on overhead costs by cutting down their salaries. The airline is currently the world's most profitable airline and the combination of merger regulation and competition from local airlines have forced the company to reduce operating costs through downgrading and contracting.
