Cendant's earnings drop 13% as growth slows in some areas

Cendant Corp. of the United States posted a 13 percent net income fall to $514 million and revenue increased 12 percent to $5.05 billion. The investment company is planning to break into four divisions to increase share price. Financial projections for the fourth quarter and the fiscal year are forecast to be weaker than expected.

London exchange holder is biding his time: Heyman adopts passive approach in weighing bid from Nasdaq; investor's firm owns 8.8% stake

American investor Samuel Heyman, whose firm owns an 8.8% stake in the London Stock Exchange, is taking a nonagressive approach to Nasdaq's acquisition bid. Nasdaq, which already owns approximately 29% of the London Stock Exchange, needs the support of the London Stock Exchange's board in order to increase its bid.
