Article Abstract:

UK farmers are being asked to reduce food production rather than increase it. They are being asked to diversify their activities into forestry, unusual crops and enterprise such as tourism. The farmers there wanted to convert buildings to homes and tourist use, allow industry onto their land or set up craft areas or kennels amongst others.
