China faces unique threats to its national security. Internally, many of its western regions are seeking greater autonomy if not independence, and China's neighbors, of which there are 14 who share land borders, are powerful and have boundary disputes with China.

Gravity's elusive ripples
Article Abstract:
The USDlr365 mil LIGO observatory which starts operating in Dec 2001 is intended to look for gravity waves. Gravity waves have never been seen directly, and LIGO may not be sensitive enough to pick up gravity waves until it is upgraded.
