Tower of strength
Article Abstract:
The Torre de Collserola, a communications tower for the Barcelona Olympics, has been completed. Designed by Sir Norman Foster, the tower lies on a ridge west of Barcelona and combines multiple transmission facilities in a building that is also an exciting landmark. The building is a slender shaft 205m high, with thirteen platforms, housing transmitters and a public viewing area, suspended half way up. The tower was constructed by building the platforms on the ground and hoisting them into position as one unit.

A very British consulate: Terry Farrell & Partners' British Consulate building in Hong Kong incorporates a consulate-general, a residential building and the British Council HQ. Discreet and low rise by Hong Kong standards, it is designed to convey 'Britishness'
Article Abstract:
The British Council building in Hong Kong was designed by Terry Farrell & Partners. The building had to be welcoming, definably British and aimed at projecting British interests, whilst responding to the complex urban context. The three building elements are arranged on the site so that there is a division between the street and the landscaped private garden. The 10 storey building contrasts with surrounding tower blocks and the site levels have produced generous internal public spaces
