Putsch im oppositionellen TV-Sender der Slowakei
Article Abstract:
The most successful private TV broadcaster in Slovakia, TV Markiza, has a new owner. A private security service occupied the premises on 18 August 1998 and denied access to Pavol Rusko, the company's chief executive and major shareholder. The background of the action is still unclear but one explanation was the political partiality of the broadcaster. The Intermediate Court of Appeals in Bratislava approved the takeover of a 51% stake in TV Markiza by the company Gamatex (Gammatex?). The remaining stake is held by Central European Media Enterprise Ltd (CME).
