Bahamas success for Merlin
Article Abstract:
The Merlin Mk1 antisubmarine helicopter of the UK Royal Navy has completed almost 200 flight hours in six major tests of the aircraft's fighting capabilities that were conducted in the Bahamas. The trials, performed over a 30-day period with a flying rate of 60 hours for every aircraft, were able to achieve the navy's data-gathering goals in 72% of the projected flying hours. Eight Stingray trials were also successfully completed during the trials.

Article Abstract:
The Russian Mi-24VM attack helicopter is the latest derivative of the Mi- 24VP Hind-E. Weighing 600 kg, the helicopter is lighter than the basic Mi- 24V Hind. The rotorcraft is powered by a new, more efficient rotor that produces an additional 300 kg of lift. Other features are the Mi-28 main and tail rotors and the non-standard unswept blade aerials above and below the tailboom.
