Article Abstract:
Clarke can relish his role as chancellor since the British economy is currently on an upswing. The economy is expected to grow 1.6% in 1993 and 2.6% in 1994. Clarke may have to plan tax increases and spending cuts to reduce the deficit from 4% of the gross domestic product.
