Aiming for first-class upgrade

Authorities at Philadelphia International Airport in Pennsylvania are setting up a retail center as part of its upgrade of Terminals B and C. The airport will invest $135 million into the mall's construction which should be completed within four years. The facility will offer upscale dining and shopping opportunities to travelers and produce more revenues for the airport which will receive around 10% of revenues per year, noted Philadelphia aviation director Dennis P. Bouey. Airport authorities stressed that the merchandise and food offered at the mall will have street prices.

Rendell chooses New Englander to run airport

Philadelphia International Airport will have a new manager in mayorial appointee Alfred Testa Jr. who had the same position in Manchester, NH. Testa will assume his new position in early April when groundbreaking is scheduled for a $500 million expansion. The expansion will include new accomadations for commuter flights and international flights. Testa will also concentrate on plans to add land to the airport's 2,000 acres.

Article Abstract:
Philadelphia International Airport would entail constructing new runaways aimed at reducing chronic flight delays at one of the nations most congested airport. The first phase of the plan, which calls for increasing the length of one of the airports runaway, would be implemented at a cost of about $40 million.
