Auto rates to drop, not plunge

Pennsylvania insurance regulators reported that auto-insurance rates for drivers in Philadelphia, who limit their right to sue after accidents will decrease by about 8 to 15 percent in 2004. The new pricing strategy for auto insurance, reached after intense discussions between city officials and state regulators is a mandate to insurance companies to shift how they charge different types of drivers.

Big grant to oil firm shrouded in secrecy: Citgo will not discuss the $15.7 million it got in federal port security aid

Citgo Petroleum Corporation, subsidiary of the Venezuelan national oil company, got a $13.5 million grant from the US Department of Homeland security to upgrade security at its refinery in Lakes Charles, La. This was the largest grant given but the company does not wish to divulge why such a high amount was given.
