City seeks to keep grocery center
Article Abstract:
Acme Markets will be persuaded by officials of the city of Philadelphia, PA, who are worried that the company is preparing to move away from the city. American Stores, the parent company of Acme, plans to construct a 1.4-million-sq-ft warehouse in East Cocalico Township, Lancaster County in Philadelphia that will employ 700 employees. City officials said they will attempt to show Acme that it is just as beneficial to remain in Philadelphia rather than in Lancaster County. Acme, on the other hand, refused to reveal its plans, leaving Philadelphia employees concerned about the security of their jobs.
