Emerging markets lift IBM profit

Tech bellwether IBM, New York reported an increase in their earnings from $1.79 in 2003to $1.80 in 2004 due to increase in revenue in all areas of the business, including emerging markets such as Russia, and China. Further tech company, Texas Instrument Inc. also reported an increase in profit by $116 million from 2003 due to rising demand for its chips used in high-end mobile phones and digital light processing systems for big-screen televisions.

IBM's 2d-quarter profit rises by nearly 17%

International Business Machines Corp's. 2004 second-quarter profit boosted nearly 17 percent due to strong growth in computer hardware sales. The company reported that it earned $1.99 billion, or $1.16 a share, on revenue of $23.15 billion from the period of April 2004 to June 2004.

Apple's profit more than doubles: High sales of iPod digital players are music to investors' ears

Heavy Sales of iPod digital music players has led Apple Computer Inc.'s fourth-quarter profit more than doubled and it was the highest for the period in nine years. Apple's fastest-growing product, iPod's sale was increased to $537 million from $121 Million in 2003.
