Engineering firm to buy bomb maker
Article Abstract:
Center City-based engineering firm, Day & Zimmerman has made a deal to buy Mason Co. for an undisclosed amount. Day & Zimmerman's purchase of the Kentucky bomb manufacturer, would add nuclear munitions to its business, increasing conventional weaponry and making it a $1.5 billion a year business. The large acquisition will face antitrust watchdogs and the Justice Department who will review the merger of the two companies as both contract heavily with the federal government. While 20-25% of its revenues comes from government contracts, Day & Zimmerman's also contracts with private industries, providing engineering services for petrochemical and bio-tech industries.
