Going toe-to-toe with the biggies; basketball apparel firm And1 (that's right) thinks it can score
Article Abstract:
And1 (Rosemont, PA) is planning for the long term. The sports apparel and footwear designer and manufacturer is not deterred by having begun business in 1996, just when sneaker sales began to slow. The company will resume using basketball players to endorse footwear, after the end of the NBA strike. The privately held company sees no need to appeal to shareholders desires. The company expects 1998 sales to be between 300,000 and 500,000 pairs of sneakers. Overall expected sales, including apparel and footwear will be around $42 million up from $28 million for last year, showing yet another year of growth.
