Internet firm goes public with 'simple' technology

WorldGate Communications Inc. (Bensalem, Pennsylvania), a television internet access company, is having an initial public offering today. The small and unknown company is scheduled to become part of the Nasdaq today, and will be listed as WGAT. Wall Street insiders say that shares of WorldGate may triple in value in their first day of trading. The shares will be sold at a price of aroudn $17 to $20 apiece. WorldGate hopes that its position as part of the Internet business boom will help push its stock price up. The company intends to bring the World Wide Web to people's homes via cable television channels.

Quest ex-chief back in industry

The chairman and CEO of Quest communications, Joseph P. Nacchio after resigning in 2002, returns to the telecommunication industry, investing in a small New Jersey company, BCN Telecom Inc.. Nacchio stepped down as chief executive officer of Qwest Communications International Inc. in 2002 after a Securities and Exchange Commission probed the company's accounting that ultimately led it to erase $2.5 billion in revenue.
