Peco rate cuts fail to impress some officials

Philadelphia, Penn.-based Peco Energy Co., which is attempting to gain regulatory approval from the state Public Utility Commission and federal agencies for its proposed merger with Chicago's Unicom Corp., has announced a rate cut of $200 million. The rate cut would reduce residential bills by 2.7% in both 2002 and 2003 and 1.8% in both 2004 and 2005.
