State's jobless appeals piling up

The US Department of Labor statistics revealed in September 2003 that Pennsylvania is among the US's worst when it comes to unemployment appeal system with a lot of backlog of unemployment appeals cases. Laura E. Reohr Pennsylvania's deputy secretary for unemployment compensation feels that they have processed more appeals than in any other comparable time frame in history and have taken actions to keep up or exceed that pace.

Jobs sent overseas register as a blip
Article Abstract:
The Labor Department report revealed that the jobs shifted overseas accounted for a small fraction of US job losses in the first quarter of 2004. Certain industries including manufacturing and software are hit harder than others and the effect of off shoring on economy is found to be minimal.
