Tax break could save GM jobs: Firm plans $190 Tech center expansion and renovation to preserve 1,870 positions

General Motors (GM) corporation filed for a 12- year tax break on a proposed $190 million expansion and renovation project at its Technical Center in Warren that could preserve nearly 1,900 jobs. Investment would also allow GM to keep 993 existing jobs at Tech Center, if the council approves the tax break.

Tax plan to keep Ace Ltd. advances

Preliminary approval was given to loans and grants by the City Council as it is needed to keep Ace Ltd. and its 1000 plus insurance jobs in Philadelphia. The question such tax breaks and public assistance, valued at $21.5 million, were appropriate or not were challenged by Council members.
