Tastykake will serve up new family-sized desserts
Article Abstract:
Tasty Baking Co. (Oxford, Pennsylvania) will soon begin distributing family-sized versions of its desserts. The company is hoping that its Classic Baked Goods line will help improve productivity at the Oxford plant. Also, the company hopes to compete with Entenmann's bakeries, which has sales of about $200 million in the Philadelphia area. Tasty Baking's sales were $150.7 million between 1997 and 1998. The new line of desserts will include eight brands, and will include new varieties such as a powdered crumb coffee cake and a lemon crumb loaf. The company says that they are trying to do what they do best rather than copying Entenmann's strategy.
