Article Abstract:

Expert system technology is still in the early stages development in terms of the financial field, but a wide variety of applications have already been developed. Analysts at Arthur Andersen & Co have used artificial intelligence tools to create prototypes of accounting software systems that can be modified for clients. Artificial intelligence is being used for corporate analysis of the petroleum wholesale industry, based on the concept of the intelligent spreadsheet. Expert system assistance for tax applications are being developed at the University of Manchester.
