MEMS

Article Abstract:

Micro-electrochemical systems (MEMS) are miniaturized motors, sensors and pumps manufactured through nanotechnology. They are significant in the fields of medicine and information technology in relation to biomechanics and optical signal conversions. Implantable MEMS are used as insulin pumps while MEMS pressure sensors monitor blood pressure and are attached at the ends of angioplasty catheters to detect heart valve defects. Also, MEMS used in telecommunications reflect optical signals transmitted through fiber optic cables.
