Better days
Article Abstract:
The South Korean Composite Stock Price Index remains mired in the mid-800s despite a reduction in a securities-transactions tax and a higher ceiling on foreign share ownership. The slush-fund scandal that broke in Oct 1995 sent the market down from over 1000, and prospects for slower GDP growth in 1996, foreign investors' wariness, and individual investors' flight to fixed- income investments, have all applied dampers. The market could recover up to 15% by the end of 1996, though short-term changes seem unlikely.

Resurgens Orthopaedics
Article Abstract:
The Resurgens Orthopaedics building in Atlanta, GA, won a gold award in the environment category of the 1992 I.D. Annual Design Review. The building's architecture expresses the relationships between the body's muscle and tendon system. This was achieved through repeating interlocking beam designs and the interplay of curved and straight lines. The central skylight system gives the building an airiness to dissipate the terrors associated with the surgical operations carried out in orthopaedic hospitals.
