(Very) private DC lobbying and PA firm is going public

Article Abstract:

Cassidy Cos. Inc. (CCI) has announced plans to go public with a sale of stocks valued at approximately $40 million. The public affairs and lobbying firm, which has about 200 employees and is located in Washington, DC, reports that the new funds will be used for debt payments and the acquisition of related businesses. CCI already has paid out $33 million in 1989 and 1994 to its controversial founder Gerald S. J. Cassidy and other unidentified stockholders through its Employee Stock Ownership Plan.

Exports: Pushing U.S. Goods from the Grass Roots

Article Abstract:

Because of the dismal condition of United States exports, many state and federal government programs are being developed to encourage exports. Some state programs are described. Some programs include assistance in advertising. Many states are cooperating together in promoting exports. Some states are offering limited amounts of financing for companies interested in exporting. With the increased interest in expanding exports, will come a demand for experienced international markets.

Issues are presented concerning the increase in the value and number of initial public offerings which were brought to the market in 2000 when compared with 1999. Investor interest in the various market sectors is discussed.
