When Two Paychecks Become One
Article Abstract:
The finances of a young Atlanta couple are examined. The Turbyfills are living on two incomes now, but with the birth of their first child, Lucy Turbyfill will quit her job as a teacher to stay home and be a full-time mother. The couple has invested, not always to their advantage, in real estate (a duplex and a condominium) and are in the process of building a home. When Lucy retires they will get a lump sum from retirement funds to which she contributed. A financial planner and an accountant look over the Turbyfills' finances, and make recommendations, which include selling off their stocks and opening an IRA.
