Do assessment tests predict behavior or screen out a diverse work force?
Article Abstract:
It is becoming increasingly common for employers to use candidate assessment methods such as personality tests and behaviour-based interviewing. Employers who decide to use such methods should be aware of the possible legal repercussions of doing so, especially in relation to privacy, discrimination and negligence in the administration of the test and the analysis of the test results. It is important to consider whether the questions are designed for all applicants, although it is acceptable to develop different questions for different jobs. Attention must also be given to whether the assessment method screens out applicants from a specific race, gender or ethnic background more often than other applicants.

Article Abstract:
International student advisers and career service practitioners should cooperate in educating students on the requirements for work authorization and the US immigration laws. According to the Immigration Reform and Control Act, 1986, employers can hire only those people who have authorization to work in the US. Students should know that a one-year practical training program is different from a full-time occupation. Career service practitioners can advise the students about their ethical obligations and the necessity of providing correct information to their advisers.

Career services seeks advice to international students
Article Abstract:
Career service professionals are obligated to provide services to all students regardless of nationality. When dealing with international students, career service professionals should exercise caution and make sure these students have the proper work authorization before making selections for interviews by recruiters. US law regarding work authorization and employee requirements should be explained to the students, either by careerservice professionals or by on-campus international student advisers.
