The changing profile of undergraduate business students
Article Abstract:
The changing enrollment pattern of American colleges over the last decade has seen an increase in the number of adult students pursuing undergraduate programs in business schools. Between 1988 and 1995, the number of freshmen opting for such programs declined by 42%. Adult enrollment helped to sustain many undergraduate business programs. Demographic variables and shifting student interest are contributing to the trend. Business schools and career services need to rethink and restructure their curriculum and strategies to suit the specific needs of adult students and clients.
