Adsorption and reaction of dimethyl disulfide on the Ni(111) surface

Article Abstract:

The adsorption and reactions of dimethyl disulfide, CH3S-SCH3, were studied on the Ni(111) surfacef via high-resolution electron energy-loss spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, low-energy electron diffraction, Auger electron spectroscopy, temperature programmed desorption and deuterium labeling. Findings indicated some similarities and differences with methanethiol on the same surface. The products produced after multilayer dimethyl disulfide desorption at 166 K were methane, hydrogen and minute quantities of ethane.

Adsorption of Et3N and Bu3N from toluene onto AgI in the very dilute region: surface models and cross-sectional areas

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to characterize the adsorption isotherms for triethylamine and tributylamine solutions in toluene onto AgI in the very dilute region. Silver iodides were determined by a slow addition of equal volumes of potassium iodide solution to a silver nitrate solution. The adsorption isotherms were obtained using the immersion technique. In addition, changes in the composition of the solutions were obtained from the slope of the calibration curves.

Calorimetric study of amine adsorption on alpha- and gamma-titanium phosphate

Article Abstract:

The differential heat of adsorption of ethyl- and n-butylamine over alpha- and gamma-titanium phosphate phases was measured using a microcalorimetric method. The measured heat of adsorption at low coverage was found to decrease with increasing coverage, indicating that the solids have superficial heterogeneity. The alpha-phase external surface is less energetic that the gamma-phase one.
