Thermal stability and reactivity of metal halide filled single-walled carbon nanotubes
Article Abstract:
Thermal stability and reactivity to oxidation of several nanocomposite systems obtained by encapsulation of metal halides in single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) was analyzed. A hierarchy of reactivity could be established based on the types of templating SWCNTs and filling materials and such nanocomposites can be used as environmentally stable catalyst nanocontainers, from which aligned nanowire growth can be catalyzed at high temperatures in the foot-print of the originating nanotubes.

A spectroelectrochemical investigation of the reduction of the water-soluble MnTSPP: SERS spectra in MnIITSPP
Article Abstract:
The reduction of water-soluble manganese tetrasulfonatophenyl porphyrin has been studied using Raman and UV-vis spectroscopy along with cyclic and differential pulse voltammetry. There are two reductive peaks at -0.45 and -0.85 V on an Ag electrode. Reduction of the porphyrin central metal from MnIII to MnII occurs at 432 nm at -O.5V on a gold minigrid electrode. There is also a 32/cm downshift in the v4 vibration from 1368 to 1336/cm at -0.5 V.

Hydrogen bonding pathways in human dihydroorotate dehydrogenase
Article Abstract:
The molecular dynamics simulations were used to identify and characterize potential hydrogen bonding pathways that could facilitate the redox reaction catalyzed by human Dihydroorotate Dehydrogenase (DHOD). The mutation is found to increase the average donor-acceptor distances for proton and hydride transfer and to disrupt the hyrogen bonding pathways observed for the wild-type enzyme.
