On the clarification of the IR stretching vibration assignment of adsorbed [N.sub.2] on [Rh.sup.0] and [Rh.sup.delta+] surface atoms of supported Rh crystallites
Article Abstract:
The low-temperature adsorption of [N.sub.2] on Rh/Si[O.sub.2] samples of various particle-size distributions is followed by FTIR and the addition of [O.sub.2] pulses on [Rh.sup.0] surfaces saturated with chemisorbed [N.sub.2] has helped in reassigning stretching frequencies attributed to [N.sub.2]-[Rh.sup.0] to [N.sub.2]-[Rh.sup.detla+]. The analysis has suggested lattice plane selectivity for [N.sub.2] adsorption on metallic Rh planes of different natures.

Deuterium NMR studies of local motions of benzene adsorbed on a Ca-montmorillonite
Article Abstract:
Benzene molecules that have undergone absorption tend to form pi-complexes with an adsorption enthalpy of 42+-4 kJ/mol and are characterized by Ca2+ molecules in interlayer spaces. These molecules have also been found to exhibit small angle wobbling and rapid discrete jumps along the C6 axis. Under high temperature, however, these molecules undergo large angle wobbling, with corresponding increase in enthalpy and entropy rates.
