Characterization of iron promoter in tungstated zirconia catalysts by Mossbauer spectroscopy at very low temperatures

Article Abstract:

Mossbauer spectroscopy is used to characterize the tungstated zirconia (WZ) catalyst with iron promoter used for the conversion of n-pentane into isopentane. The analysis has emphasized the importance of recording Mossbauer spectra below liquid helium temperature in Fe promoted catalysts, allowing a more precise identification of the different oligomeric and particulate [Fe.sup.III] species.

Evidence for the formation of W(super +5) centers and OH groups upon hydrogen reduction of platinum-promoted tungstated zirconia catalysts

Article Abstract:

The redox behavior of platinum(Pt) promoted tungstated zirconia catalysts, which are active in the isomerization of light alkanes is investigated by applying FTIR and EPR techniques. EPR shows evidence of formation of W(super 5+) at reduction temperatures above 473 K for the unpromoted catalyst and room temperature when platinium is present.

Formation of surface carbonyl and nitrosyl complexes on Titania- and zirconia-supported chromia

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to investigate CO and NO adsorption and coadsorption on Cr/ZrO2 and Cr/TiO2 samples, which are subjected to different reduction/oxidation treatments and to test the applicability of these probe molecules to selective determination of Cr(super n+) and Ti(super 4+)(Zr(super 4+)) sites.
