Characterization of the RuS2(100) surface by scanning tunneling microscopy, atomic force microscopy, and near-edge x-ray absorption fine structure measurements and electronic band structure calculations
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the (100) surface of single-crystal RuS2 using atomic force microscopy, scanning tunneling microscopy, near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure, and electronic band structure computations. Results indicated that the as-cleaved RuS2(100) surface supported a square lattice with the same cell parameters as does bulk RuS2. Findings also showed that the surface Ru atoms were bonded only to S atoms and existed in a bulklike valence state.

Surface-directed adsorption in the epitaxy growth of streptocyanine dye crystals
Article Abstract:
Results demonstrate that streptocyanine dye crystallizes epitaxially on mica as shown by the early capturing events of crystallization using atomic force microscopy technique.
