Coupled diffusion by proton exchange in aqueous solutions of acetic acid + triethylamine

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to compute ternary interdiffusion coefficients for aqueous solutions of a molecular weak acid and base using Nernst-Planck equations. The solutions were made by dissolving specific amounts of reagent-grade acetic acid and triethylamine in distilled, dionized water. Experimental results indicated the feasibility of using Taylor dispersion to determine interdiffusion coefficients for solutions of acids and bases.

Comprehensive study of the effects of methylation on tautomeric equilibria of nucleic acid bases

Article Abstract:

The effects of methylation on the relative stabilities of nucleic acid base tautomers are studied and discussed. The results suggest that some sites on the bases may not be mutagenic and may even stabilize the canonical Watson-Crick form, and a number of methylation sites can stabilize the tautomers, suggesting possible mechanisms for mutagenic changes.

Tautomeric equilibria in phenolic A-ring derivatives of prodigiosin natural products

Article Abstract:

Absorbance and steady-state emission spectroscopy are used for studying the optical properties of the phenolic prodigiosins. The phenolic A-ring derivatives of prodigiosins have some unique properties that might act to increase the biological properties of the prodigiosin natural products.
