Detecting gas hydrate behavior in crude oil using NMR
Article Abstract:
Proton nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy is used to observe directly the liquid-to-solid conversion of the water component in black oil emulsions. As the water in the solid hydrate phase is invisible to liquid state NMR, hydrate formation and dissociation in black oil can be observed by tracking the changes in the water peak area and results showed that emulsion formation depresses both the ice point and the hydrate point in black oil.

Solid-state NMR identification and quantification of newly formed aluminosilicate phases in weathered kaolinite systems
Article Abstract:
The weathering of specimen kaolinite clay is studied over the course of 369 D through solid-state (super 29)Si magic angle spinning (MAS) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and high-field (super 27)Al MAS NMR. The quantitative nature of the (super 27)Al NMR data shows that cancrinite growth increases while sodalite reaches a steady state with respect to total aluminum in the solid phases.

Single- and triple-quantum 27Al MAS NMR study of the thermal transformation of kaolinite
Article Abstract:
Al magic-angle spinning (MAS) NMR studies on kaolinite, metakaolinite and related materials are presented. Recording reliable Al MAS NMR spectra of disordered materials with distorted local Al environments needs the use of very rapid MAS.
