FRANCE: COST OF YEAR 2000 FOR DATA PROCESSING
Article Abstract:
The government estimated that it would cost FFr 50bn to FFr 100bn to adapt data processing systems to the year 2000. According to Cap Gemini, this figure is an underestimation: it will cost FFr 176bn. Labour represents 59% of this amount, software represents 21%, equipment represents 18% and electronics represent 2%. According to Cap Gemini, only 13% of French companies interviewed say that this problem concerns them. However, 29% say that they are not concerned by this problem.

Pechiney, the French group, has transferred the head office of its research centre from the Balzac building in Voreppe to the Tour Pascal A at Puteaux in the Hauts-de-Seine departement. Bernard Legrand is president of this centre.
