FTIR, UV-Vis, and HRTEM study of Au/ZrO2 catalyst: reduced reactivity in the CO-O2 reaction of electron-deficient gold sites present on the used samples
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze fresh and used Au/ZrO2 catalysts using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), UV-vis, and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The JEOL 2000 EX electron microscope was utilized to obtain HRTEM images while the 1760 Perkin-Elmer spectrometer was utilized to determine FTIR spectra. Results indicated that only a small fraction of the exposed gold sites in used samples exhibited reactivity toward oxygen.

Role of acetate and nitrates in the selective catalytic reduction of NO by propene over alumina catalyst as investigated by FTIR
Article Abstract:
The selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NO by C3H6 on Al2O3 was investigated using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy to determine the role of acetate and nitrates on the Al2O3 surface. The reaction was found to start with the formation of nitrates from NO + O2 followed by the formation fo acetate from the reaction of nitrates with C3H6. A comparison of the reactions rates of surface and gas=phase molecules are presented.

Ionic size and metal uptake of chromium(VI), molybdenum(VI), and tungsten(VI) species on ZrO2-based catalyst precursors
Article Abstract:
W-containing precursor preparation has been compared with the related Cr- and Mo-containing systems. It was found that the presence of micropores hampers the uptake of Me(VI) anions on ZrO2(383) at pH 2.
